October!

My students were so excited that it is finally October! My kids are excited for Halloween and many of them have birthdays this month. We started some graphing this past week, so I decided to make it October themed.

Here's the before...
 And the after...

My students were so excited.

We also did an October bubble map, which we completed in Friday (forgot to take a picture because I was too excited for Fall Break!!!).

But here's what the before looked like...

And a little about life outside of school...
Today is game day in Dallas... As the Sun Devils take on Notre Dame. GO DEVILS!!!!! Wish I was there but tv will have to do.

Time to enjoy Fall Break!

Woo!

Thinking Maps Galore

So this past Friday, I did Thinking Map training... AGAIN! I'd like to think I'm an expert by now! As a fellow teacher said, I could teach the training by now! Thinking Maps are all over my classroom and I love to use them!

This week I decided to make a life size flow map... The kids can walk across it and each box is individual so you can add or subtract boxes.

My class did first, next, then, last so we used four boxes on Monday and Tuesday. The students walked across it and told what happened. My students would tell if they agree or disagree with the student and they loved it! The next day we talked about beginning, middle, end so we talked about how we could combine next and then in order to make the middle of the story. ( I got to use this in my observation, pretty sure it was a hit! The principal was taking pictures... Still haven't got my feedback yet though.)

I simply cut butcher paper the size of the laminator and then cut some arrows and taped them to it. Slid it threw and that was it! Simple prep for something that had such a big impact!!!

Hope that you all can use this too!

Information Gathering for Meet the Teacher

I was contemplating what to do for meet the teacher night to gather information. I know the district and school will require certain information and will provide those sheets, but I didn't know what I wanted for me. So, instead of a long packet of information and things to fill out, I decided to use a simple 5x7 notecard to gather my information. The only thing that I am missing is how students will go home the first day of school. But here is what info I did ask for! (In the circle in the corner, I will write the child's individual number). I am going to hole punch the corner of these and then put them on a ring and keep them handy!

I think this covers everything I will need! :-)
